Designing a National Center of Excellence for Dementia Care

Hero image

A comprehensive operational blueprint for a model dementia care center — combining clinical services, caregiver support, education, and research to set a new national standard for dementia care in Greece.

The Challenge

As Greece faces the challenges of a rapidly ageing population, dementia care remains underdeveloped, fragmented, and insufficiently resourced. There is no dedicated national reference structure for integrated dementia services, and caregivers — largely family members — bear a disproportionate burden with limited institutional support.

Our Approach

We developed a detailed operational study for the establishment of a Center of Excellence for Dementia, designed as a multifunctional, scientifically grounded structure serving patients, caregivers, professionals, and policymakers. The study covers the full spectrum of the Center's design: organizational structure, clinical and counselling services, quality assurance systems, educational and research activities, infrastructure and staffing requirements, & a three-year financial projection.

OUR WORK IN THIS AREA INCLUDES

Building a national model for integrated dementia care and support

Governance model

Design of the organizational structure and governance framework for the Center.

Integrated care services

Development of clinical, counselling, and support services for people with dementia and their caregivers.

Education & research

Framework for educational and research activities, including academic partnerships.

Quality standards

Quality assurance systems and operational standards aligned with international best practices.

Operational planning

Infrastructure, staffing, and equipment specifications tailored to the Center’s needs.

Financial sustainability

Three-year financial projection and strategic positioning of the Center as a national reference point for dementia care innovation.
